Pani Poni Dash!: Danjite Okonaeba Kishin mo Kore wo Saku

The 2009 OVA titled Pani Poni Dash!: Danjite Okonaeba Kishin mo Kore wo Saku serves as a sequel to the 2005 anime adaptation of the manga series by Hekiteni. Produced by Studio Shaft, the project reflects the studio's stylistic transition toward the experimental visual language characterized by director Akiyuki Shinbo. This particular entry was designed to cater to the series' niche following, blending surreal humor and dense, rapid-fire pop culture references that defined the original run.

The title itself is an elaborate play on a traditional Japanese proverb, underscoring the creator's penchant for wordplay and intellectual comedy. Artistically, the OVA maintains the aesthetic eccentricity associated with the mid-2000s Shaft productions, prioritizing stylized backgrounds and distinct character movements. While it was received primarily by the existing fanbase as a nostalgic expansion of the curriculum, it remains a notable example of the studio's early efforts to integrate avant-garde sensibilities into conventional comedic animation.
