Pankis! 2-jigen

Pankis! 2-jigen was produced in 2015 by DLE, a studio well-regarded for its distinctive, minimalist Flash animation style and comedic shorts. This series served as a multimedia expansion of the broader Pankis! franchise, which centers on a group of young aspiring rock musicians navigating the challenges of their industry. The show was crafted to bridge the gap between traditional broadcast television and interactive digital experiences, reflecting a mid-2010s trend in Japanese media to integrate anime shorts with real-time fan engagement.

The character designs and visual approach prioritize simple, expressive lines that allow for rapid production cycles, a hallmark of DLE's collaborative storytelling method. By utilizing the 2-jigen (two-dimensional) format, the production team sought to highlight the comedic rapport of the protagonists, positioning the show as a lighter, more episodic counterpart to other music-themed anime of the era. Upon its release, the series was received primarily as a niche curiosity for existing fans of the brand who appreciated the studio's irreverent, tongue-in-cheek humor.
