Where it came from
Paw & Palaces is an original net animation produced by the Chinese streaming platform iQIYI. It emerged during a period of rapid expansion for domestic Chinese animation, aimed at diversifying the platform's content library by blending historical aesthetics with character-driven, accessible storytelling designed to appeal to both younger demographics and adult animation enthusiasts.
The production leans into the popular trend of anthropomorphic character design, prioritizing a distinct visual identity that integrates traditional palace motifs with modern animation techniques. While specific creative leads for the project are not widely publicized, the series reflects iQIYI's broader strategic push to foster original intellectual property that can bridge the gap between niche web animation and mainstream entertainment culture.
