A new anime adaptation of the Peace Maker Kurogane manga.
Although traumatized by witnessing the murder of his parents by one of the Choushuu, Ichimura Tetsunosuke's thirst for revenge leads him to desire strength. At the age of 15, Tetsunosuke approached the Shinsengumi, wanting to become one of its members. However, Tetsunosuke lacked the skill, mind, and will to emotionlessly cut down whoever threatened peace and the Shinsengumi. Even with the support of his brother Tatsunosuke and his newfound friends of the Shinsengumi, little did Tetsunosuke know the blood and pain he would have to face being part of this historical group.

Where it came from
Peacemaker Kurogane: Belief was released in 2018 as the first entry in a two-part theatrical film project concluding the long-running historical manga series by Nanae Chrono. Produced by Studio WHITE FOX, the film was designed to adapt the final story arcs of the Shinsengumi-focused narrative, transitioning the franchise from its television anime roots into a more cinematic format that emphasized the psychological toll of the Bakumatsu period on protagonist Tetsunosuke Ichimura.
The production team, led by director Tomohiro Matsukawa, aimed to balance the series' signature blend of character-driven drama and intense period-accurate combat. While the project was highly anticipated by established fans of the manga and the 2003 television series, the film's shift in visual tone and condensed pacing received a mixed reception, noted primarily for its dedication to resolving the complex interpersonal conflicts that defined the franchise for over a decade.
