Where it came from
The Play the Lupin: Clips x Parts collection was released in 2009 as a special commemorative project celebrating the long-running legacy of the Lupin the Third anime franchise. Produced by TMS Entertainment, the studio responsible for the series since its inception, the release was designed to serve as a retrospective, blending iconic musical sequences with key narrative highlights that defined the gentleman thief’s visual evolution across different decades.
The production utilized a digital remastering process to highlight the work of veteran animators and directors who contributed to the franchise's varied aesthetic shifts over the years. By juxtaposing stylized, rhythmic editing with classic character designs, the collection aimed to honor the distinct stylistic fingerprints of the studio's previous creative teams. It was received by the fan base as a curated look at the series' kinetic energy, reinforcing its place as a staple of Japanese animation history.
