Where it came from
Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf: Crazy Hubs, released in 2013, serves as a significant installment in the long-running Chinese animated franchise produced by Creative Power Entertaining. This series was developed to expand the universe of the original show by introducing a high-concept, multi-dimensional narrative structure, moving away from the traditional episodic format to engage a slightly older demographic while maintaining the core appeal of the rivalry between the protagonist, Weslie, and the antagonist, Wolffy.
The design of the series reflects a shift toward more complex, science-fiction-inspired aesthetics, incorporating the 'Crazy Hub' devices that allow characters to traverse different thematic worlds. Directed by a collaborative creative team at Creative Power Entertaining, the animation style was refined to emphasize visual variety and faster pacing, which helped the series remain a staple of children's programming in China during the early 2010s, receiving recognition for its ability to evolve the franchise's established character dynamics.
