Pokémon: Pikachu and the Pokémon Music Squad

Pikachu and the Pokémon Music Squad is a theatrical short film released in Japan in 2015 alongside the feature film Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages. Produced by OLM, Inc., this short was designed as a lighthearted musical entry in the long-running Pikachu short series, which traditionally precedes main franchise films to showcase the personalities of Pokémon in a non-competitive, orchestral setting. The narrative centers on Pikachu and various other Pokémon gathering in a forest to perform a symphony, emphasizing the collaborative and whimsical tone that characterized this era of the franchise.

The production team leaned into a distinctively vibrant aesthetic, prioritizing expressive character animation to match the musical theme of the film. While the broader Pokémon short series has historically served to introduce new regional Pokémon or highlight popular fan favorites, this particular entry was crafted to celebrate the series' focus on harmony and friendship. It was received as a charming diversion by the dedicated fan base, maintaining the gentle, narrative-light structure typical of the shorts while showcasing the diverse vocal abilities of the Pokémon ensemble.
