Where it came from
Precure All Stars DX: Minna Tomodachi☆Kiseki no Zenin Daishuugou! was released in 2009 by Toei Animation to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the Pretty Cure franchise. It serves as the first entry in the long-running All Stars film series, created to unite the protagonists from every series aired up to that point, including Futari wa Pretty Cure, Max Heart, Splash Star, Yes! Precure 5, and the then-current Fresh Precure. The film was conceived as a monumental crossover event, bringing together all fourteen lead characters to face a singular, overarching threat in a grand theatrical spectacle.
The film was directed by Takashi Otsuka, who sought to balance the distinct animation styles and personality traits of the various teams while maintaining a cohesive narrative flow. The production emphasizes the 'miracle' theme, focusing on the power of teamwork and friendship across different generations of cures. Upon its release, the film was well-received by fans of the franchise for its nostalgic value and the technical achievement of choreographing large-scale battle sequences involving such an expansive cast, effectively establishing the blueprint for the annual All Stars crossover tradition.
