Where it came from
PRETTY×CATION 2 THE ANIMATION is a 2016 original video animation produced by the studio Pink Pineapple, a prominent entity in the adult animation industry. The work is based on an adult visual novel developed by the studio Hibiki Works, reflecting a mid-2010s trend where popular visual novels were adapted into short, multi-episode OVA series to capitalize on the existing fan bases of the source material.
The production follows the conventions established by its predecessor, focusing on the character-driven romantic and adult scenarios central to the original game. As is typical for Pink Pineapple’s output during this era, the animation prioritizes faithful character design transfers from the game's original art style. It was primarily received within the niche market of visual novel enthusiasts and collectors of adult OVAs, functioning as a promotional and supplementary piece of media rather than a narrative-driven standalone feature.
