Where it came from
Released in 2014, Pretty Rhythm: All Star Selection - Prism Show☆Best Ten serves as a cinematic compilation for the Pretty Rhythm anime franchise. Produced by TV Tokyo and animated by Tatsunoko Production and Dongwoo A&E, the film was designed to synthesize the high-energy musical performances, known as Prism Shows, that defined the series' three-season run. It functions as a retrospective, curating the most iconic sequences featuring characters like Aira Harune, Mia Ageha, and Naru Ayase to celebrate the legacy of the idol-themed sports drama.
The production sought to package the franchise's distinct blend of figure skating, fashion, and idol performance for a theatrical experience. By focusing on a 'best-of' format, the film caters to long-term fans by providing a polished showcase of the series' evolving animation style and music. It was received as a commemorative capstone for the initial Pretty Rhythm era, maintaining the bright, energetic aesthetic that the creative team cultivated throughout the preceding television broadcasts.
