Princess Lover!

Princess Lover! was produced by studio GoHands and released in 2009 as an adaptation of the adult visual novel developed by Ricotta. The series emerged during a period when many visual novels were being transitioned into television anime to capitalize on the popularity of the harem and romance genres. Set in an elite academy for the wealthy, the narrative follows Teppei Arima, an ordinary student who finds himself thrust into high-society life after his family's sudden death, forcing him to navigate the complex social hierarchies of the upper class.

The design and animation were handled by GoHands, a studio known for its distinct visual flourishes and sharp character aesthetics. The production aimed to maintain the polished, high-contrast look synonymous with mid-2000s romance anime, focusing on character-driven interactions and the visual archetypes common to the genre at the time. While the series received mixed reviews regarding its narrative depth and pacing, it remains a notable example of the studio's early work and the industry's focus on adapting character-heavy visual novels for a broader television audience.
