Where it came from
Queen's Blade 2: The Evil Eye, released in 2009, serves as the second season of the anime adaptation based on the popular gamebook series. Produced by Studio ARMS, these special episodes function as supplementary content designed to expand upon the complex fantasy world and character arcs established in the main television run. The production reflects the studio's commitment to the franchise's signature high-fantasy aesthetic and detailed character designs, aiming to provide deeper context for the series' lore.
The character designs were heavily influenced by the original gamebook illustrations, which prioritize elaborate, stylized armor and fantasy archetypes. By focusing on the specific narratives of the Evil Eye arc, the production team sought to satisfy the existing fanbase's desire for expanded side stories and character interactions. Upon release, the specials were noted for maintaining the technical consistency and aesthetic tone that defined the wider Queen's Blade animated franchise during its peak popularity in the late 2000s.
