Where it came from
The Ray (Cosmic Princess Kaguya! Version) is a specialized release by Studio Chromato, a production house known for its stylized approach to character goods and high-end collectibles. This specific iteration reimagines the character through a celestial, ethereal lens, blending traditional anime aesthetic tropes with an ornate, space-inspired motif. The design process emphasized intricate textures and a deliberate color palette intended to evoke the mystery of lunar folklore, marking a shift in the studio's output toward more thematic, narrative-driven figure design.
Upon its release, the figure was positioned as a premium offering within the broader Studio Chromato catalog. It was met with interest from collectors who favored the studio’s commitment to expressive detailing and dynamic posing. The figure is widely recognized for its departure from standard character iterations, opting instead for a limited, specialized look that highlights the creative range of the studio's sculpting team and their dedication to bringing avant-garde concepts to the medium of PVC and resin displays.
