Where it came from
Released in 2014, this special collaboration project emerged as a unique promotional tie-in between the dental care brand REACH and the popular manga and anime franchise Thermae Romae. The initiative centered on a short animated crossover titled Pietrada no Kekkon, produced by the studio DLE, which is well-known for its signature flash-animation style and humorous, offbeat storytelling approaches.
The project aimed to infuse the Thermae Romae aesthetic—centered on Roman architect Lucius Modestus and his obsession with bathing technology—into the mundane world of oral hygiene. By utilizing DLE’s distinct comedic sensibility, the collaboration sought to modernize the brand image of REACH products, presenting the item as both a functional tool and a whimsical piece of tie-in memorabilia for fans of Mari Yamazaki’s original source material.
