Renegade Immortal: Slaying the Blood Progenitor

Renegade Immortal: Slaying the Blood Progenitor is an ONA produced by the studio Build Dream, serving as a specialized tie-in content piece based on the highly popular xianxia web novel Renegade Immortal by Er Gen. The production was commissioned to capitalize on the surging interest in high-fidelity 3D animation adaptations of Chinese cultivation literature, aiming to capture the dark, high-stakes aesthetic of the original source material through sophisticated motion capture and fluid combat choreography.

The design and animation approach were helmed by Build Dream, a studio recognized for pushing technical boundaries in the domestic donghua industry. By focusing on the intense, visceral nature of Wang Lin’s ascent to power, the production team prioritized atmospheric lighting and detailed character models to reflect the grim, cutthroat reality of the cultivation world. Upon its release, the project was received as a technically accomplished expansion of the franchise that successfully translated the novel's intricate magical combat into a polished visual format.
