Ring no Seraph

Ring no Seraph, known in English as Seraphic Ring, is a cult-classic science fiction manga series written and illustrated by Fuyumi Ono and Hiroki Endo. Serialized in the late 1990s, the story blends elements of high-concept science fiction with metaphysical themes, centering on a protagonist capable of accessing a realm of profound power. The narrative explores complex psychological questions about human nature and the consequences of wielding god-like abilities, reflecting the introspective tone common in late-twentieth-century seinen manga.

The visual identity of the series is defined by Endo's gritty, detailed aesthetic, which prioritizes atmospheric tension and kinetic action sequences over traditional polish. Upon its release, the series garnered a dedicated following for its dense, challenging plot and its willingness to tackle existential dread. While it occupies a niche space in the medium's history compared to more mainstream titles, it remains a respected work among enthusiasts for its unique creative vision and its influence on subsequent dark science fiction manga.
