Where it came from
Robocar Poli debuted on the South Korean network EBS in 2011, created by the studio Roi Visual. The series was designed to blend themes of teamwork, safety, and community service through a group of anthropomorphic rescue vehicles. It emerged during a period of growth for the South Korean animation industry, aiming to provide educational content for preschool children that emphasized problem-solving over conflict.
The character designs, characterized by bold primary colors and rounded, approachable features, were intended to appeal to young children while maintaining a distinct visual identity for each vehicle. The series received significant positive reception, earning international acclaim for its gentle storytelling and commitment to teaching traffic safety, which led to widespread distribution across global markets and a robust line of accompanying merchandise.
