Where it came from
Science SARU × MBS Original Short Anime Daisakusen! emerged in 2024 as a collaborative project between the acclaimed animation studio Science SARU and the Mainichi Broadcasting System. The series was designed as a creative incubator, providing a platform for emerging talent within the studio to experiment with diverse visual styles and narrative concepts through a collection of short-form animated works.
The initiative reflects Science SARU’s ongoing commitment to avant-garde storytelling and fluid animation techniques, building upon the studio's reputation established by directors like Masaaki Yuasa and Eunyoung Choi. By showcasing a variety of directors and animators, the project aimed to highlight the studio's internal artistic diversity, receiving critical attention for its departure from traditional long-form television structures in favor of distinct, self-contained creative statements.
