Scissor Seven Season 3

Scissor Seven, known in China as Ci Ke Wu Liu Qi, emerged from the creative vision of director He Xiaofeng and Sharefun Studio. Released as an ONA starting in 2018, the series garnered attention for its unique blend of slapstick comedy, wuxia-inspired action, and surprisingly poignant character arcs. The third season, released in 2021, continues the journey of its protagonist, a scissor-wielding assassin, as the narrative shifts from episodic comedic skirmishes toward a more serialized and emotionally heavy conflict, reflecting the production team's desire to deepen the series' lore.

The visual design of the series is defined by a minimalist, hand-drawn aesthetic that prioritizes fluid motion and expressive character acting over high-fidelity 3D modeling. This stylistic choice, spearheaded by the team at Sharefun, was a deliberate move to evoke the charm of early 2000s animation while maintaining a contemporary edge. Upon its release, the third season was noted by critics for its ability to balance absurd humor with the high-stakes drama of the show's expanding world, successfully solidifying the franchise's reputation as a standout in modern Chinese animation.
