Where it came from
Scum of the Brave is an original television anime series produced by OLM, slated for broadcast in 2026. The project represents a continuation of the studio's focus on character-driven narratives within the fantasy genre, developed during a period where OLM sought to balance high-octane production values with intricate world-building. As an original work, it bypasses the traditional adaptation process, allowing the creative team greater freedom in pacing and thematic exploration.
The series was conceived by a core creative team at OLM tasked with subverting common tropes found in modern heroic fantasy. By centering the story on characters that exist on the periphery of traditional nobility or valor, the designers aimed to emphasize moral ambiguity and the grit of the series' titular outcasts. While reception remains speculative due to its upcoming release, the industry anticipates a focus on stylistic visual storytelling consistent with OLM's established technical standards for animation quality.
