Where it came from
Released in 2014, this special entry originated as a promotional companion to the selector infected WIXOSS anime series. Produced by J.C.Staff, the short was designed to expand the franchise's world-building by offering a lighthearted, comedic perspective on the darker themes prevalent in the main narrative. It focuses on the interactions between characters Midoriko and Piruluk, contrasting their typical brooding roles with a more whimsical tone that provided audiences a reprieve from the intense card-battle drama of the primary episodes.
The animation style retains the polished aesthetic established by J.C.Staff for the parent series, utilizing vibrant character designs that emphasize the distinct personalities of the WIXOSS Selectors. It was conceived as part of the broader multimedia marketing strategy for the WIXOSS trading card game, aiming to strengthen fan engagement by humanizing the avatars through humorous side-stories. While the main series was lauded for its psychological depth, these specials were received as charming, essential supplements for viewers deeply invested in the franchise's lore.
