Sengoku Bushou Retsuden Bakufuu Douji Hissatsuman

Sengoku Bushou Retsuden Bakufuu Douji Hissatsuman was released in 1990 as an original video animation produced by Bandai Visual. Emerging during the height of the direct-to-video market in Japan, the project capitalized on the era's fascination with jidaigeki-inspired fantasy and action-heavy storytelling. It serves as a representative example of the high-energy, style-focused aesthetic that defined late 1980s and early 1990s anime productions aimed at the home video market.

The production sought to blend historical samurai tropes with exaggerated, supernatural combat elements typical of the genre. While the visual design reflects the distinct character animation styles popular within Bandai Visual's portfolio at the time, the work remains an obscure curiosity that caters primarily to niche collectors of bubble-era OVA history rather than mainstream audiences, leading to its status as a lesser-known title in the expansive catalogue of the period.
