Where it came from
Senkou, a track from the Japanese band L'Arc-en-Ciel, was released in 2021 as a digital single. It was composed and produced as part of a series of releases coinciding with the band's 30th anniversary celebrations, reflecting their enduring influence on the J-rock scene. The title, which translates to 'flash' or 'gleam,' is characteristic of the band's penchant for dynamic, stadium-ready compositions that balance melodic rock sensibilities with high-energy arrangements.
The track was received by long-time fans as a return to the band's quintessential polished sound, characterized by Ken's intricate guitar layering and Hyde's distinctive vocal range. The production was aimed at capturing the scale of the band's live performances, which have remained a cornerstone of their identity since their formation in the early 1990s. Its release served as both a standalone creative statement and a celebratory nod to the group's three decades of musical output.
