Senpai is an Otokonoko Movie: Sunshine After the Rain

Senpai is an Otokonoko: Sunshine After the Rain serves as the cinematic culmination of the web manga series by Pom, which explores themes of gender identity and self-acceptance through the life of Makoto Hanaoka. Following the success of the 2024 television series, Aniplex produced this feature film to conclude the narrative arcs introduced in the original serialization. The project maintains the studio's focus on intimate character-driven storytelling, aiming to provide a definitive resolution to the complex interpersonal dynamics between Makoto, Saki, and Ryuji.

The production leans into a soft, emotive visual style intended to mirror the sensitive nature of the source material. By shifting the perspective to the theatrical format, the creative team focused on refining the emotional pacing established in the earlier episodes, emphasizing the characters' internal growth. Upon its 2025 release, the film was positioned as a poignant exploration of authenticity, receiving attention for its commitment to the delicate tone that defined Pom's original digital manga.
