Haruka Tsuchiya is a plain and simple university student who has a pet by the name of Okojo-san. Okojo-san was actually born in one of the mountains in the North and brought to one of the pet shops to be sold. Determined to get out of the pet shop, Okojo-san formulated an escape strategy and ended up in the house of Haruka. There are always funny and strange occurances happening around the two, be it the people or animals who are near them. This is a gag anime in which absurdity is the main feature of the story.

Where it came from
Shiawase Sou no Okojo-san, known in English as The Stoat in the Happy Apartment, was produced by Radix Ace Entertainment and aired in Japan from 2001 to 2002. Based on the manga by Uno Ayako, the series centers on an escaped pet stoat named Kojo who finds sanctuary in a run-down boarding house. The adaptation was directed by Shima Toshihiko, who aimed to translate the manga’s quirky, character-driven humor into a lighthearted television format that appealed to both children and adults.
The production is characteristic of early 2000s slice-of-life anime, balancing slapstick comedy with the whimsical, often surreal internal monologue of the protagonist. Radix chose a distinct aesthetic that prioritized expressive character animation to capture Kojo's mischievous nature. While the series did not reach the global fame of its contemporary peers, it is remembered by enthusiasts for its unique tonal blend and its place in the legacy of late-night television animations adapted from niche manga properties.
