Where it came from
Shushan Qi Xian Lu, or The Legend of Shushan Mountain, represents a significant entry in the mid-2010s wave of Chinese 3D animation, known as donghua, produced by Wawayu Animation. Part 2 emerged during a period of rapid industry expansion, as studios sought to adapt popular web novels into serialized digital formats to satisfy a growing domestic audience hungry for fantasy narratives rooted in xianxia mythology.
The production utilized established 3D modeling techniques typical of the era's ONA (Original Net Animation) market, focusing on high-action sequences and mystical character designs consistent with the source material's genre tropes. While the series received moderate attention within the niche streaming landscape of its time for its commitment to serialized storytelling, it is primarily viewed today as a reflective example of the technical and narrative evolution of independent Chinese animation studios.
