Where it came from
Slow Loop was produced by the studio CONNECT and premiered in 2022 as an adaptation of the manga series by Maiko Uchino. The series fits into the 'iyashikei' or healing subgenre of anime, focusing on the therapeutic aspects of fly fishing and the development of familial bonds between the two protagonists, Hiyori and Koharu. Its creation was intended to provide a gentle, atmospheric viewing experience that highlights the technical elements of angling alongside character-driven drama.
The animation direction and character design focused on conveying a sense of tranquility, utilizing a soft color palette and detailed depictions of natural landscapes to reflect the protagonist's growing passion for the outdoors. Upon its release, the series was well-received by audiences for its sincere approach to grief and blended families, distinguishing itself from other slice-of-life titles by grounding its emotional core in the methodical, patient practice of fishing.
