Spring Day

Spring Day was released by the South Korean boy band BTS on February 13, 2017, as the lead single from their repackaged album, You Never Walk Alone. The track serves as an extension of their Wings era, conceptualized to offer comfort to those experiencing loss and the yearning that accompanies separation. Its composition, characterized by a blend of alternative hip-hop and British rock influences, was crafted by producers including Pdogg and RM, aiming to evoke a sense of longing through melancholic yet hopeful musical layers.

The song's thematic depth is frequently linked to the 2014 Sewol Ferry tragedy, as the band members expressed a desire to memorialize the victims and offer solace to their grieving families. Upon release, the track received widespread critical acclaim for its poetic lyrics and emotional resonance, eventually becoming one of the most enduring songs in South Korean music history. Its longevity on domestic charts and its status as a cultural touchstone reflect its success in transcending the boundaries of traditional pop music to function as a public act of remembrance.
