Where it came from
Straight Title Robot Anime was produced by Tsubasa Entertainment and premiered in early 2013 as an experimental project in the medium of digital animation. The series emerged during a period of increasing interest in utilizing MMD (MikuMikuDance) software to streamline the production process for independent and lower-budget television anime. Its creation was centered on exploring the feasibility of using motion capture technology to translate comedic scripts into a three-dimensional visual format.
The series was directed and written by Koutarou Ishidate, who aimed to subvert traditional anime tropes through minimalist, dialogue-driven humor. The character designs were handled by Yahako Tsuji, focusing on simple, recognizable silhouettes that functioned well within the constraints of the software. Upon release, the show was noted for its unconventional aesthetic and improvisational-style banter, garnering a niche following for its meta-commentary on the anime industry and its departure from conventional animation standards.
