Where it came from
Strike the Blood III is an original video animation (OVA) series produced by studio CONNECT, released between 2018 and 2019. It serves as an adaptation of the ninth through twelfth volumes of the light novel series written by Gakuto Mikumo. The production follows the established narrative arc of the franchise, continuing the adventures of Kojo Akatsuki and Yukina Himeragi as they face new supernatural threats within the artificial island city of Itogami Island.
The series was directed by Takao Sano and maintains the distinctive aesthetic established in the earlier seasons of the anime. The design direction focuses on a blend of high-stakes action and character-driven drama, typical of the studio's approach to the light novel source material. Upon its release, the series was received by its core fanbase as a faithful continuation of the supernatural action genre, focusing on technical consistency and the ongoing development of the series' extensive ensemble cast.
