Sukitte Nandarou... Namida

Sukitte Nandarou... Namida is a single by the Japanese artist Mai Kuraki, released in 2002. As a prominent figure in the early 2000s J-pop scene, Kuraki was known for her introspective lyrics and soulful delivery, often collaborating with producer Akihito Tokunaga. This track serves as a quintessential example of the pop-ballad style that defined her transition from early electronic-influenced dance tracks toward more mature, emotional compositions.

The song was released under the Giza Studio label during a period when Kuraki was cementing her status as a prolific songwriter and performer. The design and artistic direction of the single packaging lean into the minimalist aesthetic common to early 2000s Japanese music releases, focusing on personal, atmospheric portraiture of the artist. Upon its release, the single was well-received by her dedicated fanbase, contributing to the consistent chart presence she maintained throughout the decade.
