Sumikko Gurashi: Koko ga Ochitsukun Desu

Sumikko Gurashi: Koko ga Ochitsukun Desu is a 2025 television series developed by the Japanese stationery company San-X. The title, which translates roughly to 'This is where I feel at home,' continues the franchise's long-standing tradition of highlighting 'corner-dwelling' characters who find comfort in seclusion. Following the brand's established lore, the series focuses on anthropomorphic mascots like Shirokuma, Penguin?, and Tonkatsu, characters designed by San-X illustrator Yuri Yokomizo to embody social anxiety and the relatable desire to occupy the quiet, unnoticed spaces of life.

The visual design and narrative tone of the 2025 series lean into the 'iyashikei' or healing genre, emphasizing soft aesthetics and gentle storytelling. Developed to provide a soothing viewing experience for both children and adults, the show maintains the signature minimalist charm that has defined the Sumikko Gurashi brand since its inception in 2012. Like its predecessors, the series was produced to expand the reach of these characters beyond stationery and merchandise, offering a deeper look into the interconnected, understated lives of the group.
