Where it came from
Summer Slack is a short animated work produced by Studio Colorido, a Japanese animation studio known for its vibrant, digitally-driven aesthetic and focus on magical realism. The project was conceived as part of a series of promotional and creative shorts intended to showcase the studio's technical prowess in character animation and atmospheric storytelling, specifically capturing the ephemeral, nostalgic mood of the Japanese summer.
The production reflects the studio's hallmark approach to visual design, which emphasizes bright, saturated color palettes and fluid motion. By centering on everyday settings transformed by subtle fantasy elements, the creators aimed to evoke a sense of quiet wonder. Upon its release, the piece was well-received by the animation community for its high production values and the distinct stylistic consistency that has become synonymous with Studio Colorido's wider portfolio.
