Super High Speed Galvion

Super High Speed Galvion was produced by Kokusai Eigasha and aired in 1984 during the peak of the mid-eighties mecha anime boom. The series followed a group of specialists known as the Circus who utilized transforming vehicles to combat a clandestine criminal organization. It emerged at a time when toy-etic mechanical designs were highly prioritized, intended to bridge the gap between high-speed car chases and the transforming robot genre.

The series is noted for its ambitious vehicle-to-robot transformation mechanics, which were designed to capitalize on the success of similar contemporary titles like Macross. Despite the creative efforts of its staff to incorporate distinct racing elements into the narrative, the series faced production difficulties and struggled to gain widespread commercial traction. It remains a notable, if relatively obscure, entry from the era of experimental mecha television.
