Super Sexy Android

Released in 2001 by the studio Obtain Future, Super Sexy Android is a product of the late 1990s and early 2000s trend toward short-form original video animation, or OVA, projects. These releases were frequently produced as standalone, stylized vignettes intended for the home video market, catering to niche interests within the burgeoning digital animation scene of the era. The project emerged during a period when studios were experimenting with the aesthetic possibilities of early 3D modeling software, often prioritizing provocative character designs to showcase graphical capabilities.

The creative direction of this work was shaped by the studio's focus on experimental character modeling and the distinct, highly stylized visual language common to independent Japanese animation houses of the time. While intended as a showcase of aesthetic artifice, the production is frequently noted by historians for its idiosyncratic interpretation of sci-fi tropes. Upon its release, it was received primarily as a curious artifact of early internet-era animation, recognized more for its specific technical constraints and stylistic boldness than as a mainstream narrative work.
