Susume! Dokan-kun

Susume! Dokan-kun was produced by the Japanese studio DLE in 2007 as a brief, comedic television series. The program emerged during a period when DLE was gaining significant traction for its distinct, low-frame-rate Flash animation style, which prioritized minimalist aesthetics and rapid-fire, absurdist humor over traditional high-budget production values. This stylistic choice allowed the studio to generate a large volume of short-form content for daytime television, tapping into a specific niche of surreal, deadpan Japanese comedy popular in the mid-2000s.

The series was designed to showcase the studio's efficient production pipeline, focusing on idiosyncratic character designs that favored simplicity to accommodate the rapid release cycle of the animation. While the series remains a relatively obscure relic of the era, it is recognized among enthusiasts of digital animation history for its role in cementing the visual language that DLE would later employ for more widely known franchises like Eagle Talon. It was received as a quirky, experimental entry in the landscape of late-night and short-form broadcasting, serving as a functional demonstration of Flash-based creative workflows.
