Where it came from
The Taka no Tsume NEO Announcement Movie was released in 2012 to herald the third television season of the Eagle Talon series, created by FROGMAN and produced by DLE Inc. The series is known for its distinctive, low-budget 'Flash animation' aesthetic and its satirical take on superhero tropes, specifically centering on the bumbling Eagle Talon secret society and their futile attempts at world domination.
The design of this announcement piece captures the irreverent, improvisational spirit that defines FROGMAN's work. By utilizing a minimalist style that prioritizes comedic timing and self-deprecating humor over high-fidelity visuals, the announcement aimed to engage the established fanbase while highlighting the franchise's shift to the NEO branding. It was received as a quintessentially meta-commentary on the Japanese animation industry's production standards.
