Tales of Crestoria Behind the Scenes

Tales of Crestoria: The Wake of Crestoria was produced as a short promotional ONA in 2020 by the acclaimed animation studio Kamikaze Douga. The project was commissioned to serve as a high-quality visual introduction to the mobile role-playing game Tales of Crestoria, designed to build anticipation among the franchise's fanbase. The animation was crafted to bridge the narrative gap between the game's premise and its central characters, utilizing the studio's signature blend of 3D computer graphics and stylized aesthetic sensibilities to evoke the themes of the game's darker, more mature storyline.

The creative direction focused on translating the intricate character designs of the video game into a fluid, cinematic medium. Kamikaze Douga, known for their work on projects like Pop Team Epic and Star Wars: Visions, aimed to provide a sense of weight and kinetic energy to the protagonist Kanata Hjuger's plight. Upon its release, the short was received as a stylish and effective piece of marketing, praised for its technical polish and its ability to convey the dramatic tone of the Crestoria universe in a condensed format.
