It is the year 20XX. Earth has been assaulted by monsters known as 'the Enemy of Humanity'. In order to deal with this threat, special schools comprised of teenagers with extraordinary abilities were formed. These people, who came to be known as 'the Talented', have abilities that defy the rules of reality. Among these superpowered individuals was an outlier, someone who was sent to one of these schools despite having no innate special abilities whatsoever. This is the story of our protagonist, who attempts to defeat the Enemies of Humanity through the use of intelligence and manipulation.

Where it came from
Talentless Nana, or Munou na Nana, emerged as a 2020 television anime adaptation of the manga series written by Looseboy and illustrated by Iori Furuya. Produced by studio Bridge and directed by Shinji Ishihira, the series was designed to subvert the expectations of the superpower genre by centering on Nana Hiiragi, a girl sent to an island academy to systematically eliminate students deemed a threat to humanity. The production aimed to shift rapidly from a typical school-life aesthetic into a tense psychological thriller.
Upon its release, the series garnered attention for its tonal pivot in the opening episode, which reframed the narrative from a standard battle-harem setup into a cat-and-mouse mystery. Critics and viewers often compared its structural approach to detective fiction, noting how the animation and character designs by Satohiko Sano helped maintain a facade of normalcy to contrast with the protagonist's calculated, deceptive nature.
