Twenty-year-old Princess Mia of the Tearmoon Empire, often scorned as the "selfish princess," was executed by guillotine in a rebellion. Next thing she knew, she awoke in her own twelve-year-old body, with her own blood-stained diary that she kept before she was beheaded sitting next to her pillow. Given a second chance at life, Mia decides to rebuild the empire. For the sake of Tearmoon's future? To save the people from starvation? For all the soldiers who lost their lives in the civil war? No! Everything she does in this life is for the sake of avoiding the guillotine! "F-For me, this should be a piece of cake!" Thus the useless, cowardly, self-serving princess brings about miracle after miracle in her great struggle to save herself in this altered-history fantasy.

Where it came from
The Tearmoon Empire anime adaptation was produced by studio SILVER LINK. and premiered in 2023. It is based on the light novel series written by Nozomu Mochitsuki and illustrated by Gilse, which began serialization on the user-generated content site Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2018. The story follows Mia Luna Tearmoon, a self-centered princess who is executed by guillotine during a revolution, only to awaken as her twelve-year-old self with a chance to redo her life and avoid her fate.
The adaptation was directed by Yushi Ibe, who aimed to balance the comedic elements of Mia's habitual misunderstandings with the underlying stakes of her political survival. The production emphasizes a lighthearted, fairytale-inspired aesthetic that contrasts with the initial grim premise of the protagonist's execution. Upon its release, the series was well-received by audiences for its humorous tone and the charming, albeit often inadvertent, redemption arc of its central character.
