Where it came from
Tears to Tiara was produced by the studio WHITE FOX and aired in 2009, marking one of the studio's earliest major television projects. The series is an adaptation of the tactical role-playing game originally released by Leaf in 2005. The transition to animation sought to capture the fantasy epic’s blend of Celtic mythology and high-fantasy storytelling, bringing the characters into a broader medium as the studio established its identity in the industry.
The character designs for the anime were handled by Keichi Shimizu, who aimed to preserve the aesthetic sensibilities of the source material while adjusting the visuals for television format. The series follows Arawn, a demon king resurrected to oppose a rising empire, navigating themes of power and liberation. While the anime was created to serve the existing fanbase of the game, its reception was noted primarily for its dedication to the source lore and the studio's initial steps into the fantasy genre.
