Where it came from
Tesla Note was produced by the studio Gambit and released in 2021 as a supernatural thriller television series. The narrative follows a high school student who discovers a mysterious notebook that acts as an advanced intelligence-gathering tool, drawing heavily from the genre tropes established by works like Death Note while incorporating espionage elements.
The series was directed by Michio Fukuda, who aimed to blend fast-paced action with the complex, cerebral nature of the original manga written by Masafumi Nishida, Tadayoshi Kubo, and Kouta Sannomiya. Upon its release, the show drew varied reactions from audiences, often noted for its unconventional pacing and ambitious attempt to modernize the 'death note' subgenre with cold-war style spy aesthetics.
