Astro Boy, helping Professor Ochinomizu with planetary exploration, discovers a trash star floating in space. On this star, robots that can no longer move have been thrown away stacked on top of each other. On this robot mountain, Astro saves a robot soldier, Bemu, that escaped from the verge of death and takes him back to Earth.
"I'm tried of fighting!" "I feel the same." While Atom and Bemu are together, a warm friendship is born and goes on to deepen. However, one day, the trash star draws near to the Earth. If it hits, the Earth would have a huge explosion. The Earth is in chaos. As this happens, there is just one way to stop the crash into Earth. Only this is... What will Astro do. Will he be able to protect a peaceful Earth as well as his friendship with Bemu?

Where it came from
Tetsuwan Atom: Chikyuu Saigo no Hi, released in 2001, stands as a notable entry in the long-running Astro Boy legacy, produced by Tezuka Productions to commemorate the cultural impact of Osamu Tezuka's original manga. Developed during a period of renewed interest in retro anime aesthetics, the film was crafted to introduce the character to a new generation of viewers while maintaining the spirit of the original science fiction narratives that defined Tezuka's work in the mid-twentieth century.
The production design reflects a deliberate blend of classic character silhouettes and updated digital animation techniques, aiming to honor the clean, minimalist lines established by Tezuka himself. Upon its release, the film was received primarily by a dedicated fanbase and academic researchers interested in the evolution of the Astro Boy franchise, serving as a bridge between the historical significance of the original 1963 television series and the modern advancements in animation technology.
