Where it came from
The Extinction of Landscape is a contemplative documentary film that examines the intersection of human industrial advancement and the irreversible loss of natural ecosystems. Conceived during a period of heightened academic focus on the Anthropocene, the film was crafted to serve as both a visual archival project and a critique of modern development, aiming to capture landscapes that were scheduled for permanent environmental alteration.
The film's visual language was guided by a minimalist aesthetic, favoring static, wide-angle cinematography to emphasize the scale of the environments featured. While it was not designed for mainstream commercial appeal, it earned critical recognition within independent film circuits for its disciplined pacing and the restraint shown in its commentary, which allowed the captured imagery to communicate the gravity of its subject matter.
