Where it came from
The Garden of sinners -recalled out summer-, released in 2013, serves as an epilogue to the celebrated film series based on Kinoko Nasu’s light novel saga. Produced by ufotable, this feature adapts the 'recalled out summer' side story, which explores themes of destiny and the supernatural through the eyes of Shiki Ryougi and Mikiya Kokutou. The film acts as a narrative bridge that provides closure to the complex metaphysical questions posed throughout the original seven-part series.
Directed by Takahiro Miura, the film maintains the high visual standards established by the earlier installments, utilizing ufotable's signature blend of digital compositing and atmospheric lighting. The design team focused on juxtaposing the mundane reality of the characters' lives with the encroaching, otherworldly elements of the Mage's Association. Upon its release, it was received as a contemplative conclusion to the franchise, praised for its tonal consistency and ability to distill the series' dense philosophical underpinnings into a cohesive cinematic experience.
