The Girl From the Other Side: Siúil, a Rún, released in 2019, is an original video animation produced by Wit Studio. It serves as an atmospheric adaptation of Nagabe’s acclaimed manga series of the same name. The project was conceived as a way to bring the series' distinct, woodblock-inspired gothic art style to life, utilizing a unique production technique that prioritized a hand-drawn, illustrative aesthetic over traditional digital clean-up, mirroring the texture and melancholic tone of the source material.

The production was helmed by directors Yutaro Kubo and Satomi Tani, who sought to maintain the fairy-tale intimacy of the relationship between Shiva and Teacher. By employing a muted color palette and soft, sketchy linework, the creative team aimed to replicate the ethereal quality of Nagabe’s original illustrations. Upon its release, the OVA received praise for its artistic integrity and its successful translation of a slow-paced, atmospheric narrative into the medium of animation, effectively standing apart from typical high-energy contemporary anime.
