Screened together with Gundam: Mission to the Rise at Gundam's 20th Anniversary event "Gundam Big Bang Sengen" in Pacifico Yokohama National Convention Hall.
Selected scenes from Kidou Senshi Gundam were re-edited for three giant projection screens to give the widescreen feel to the original 4:3 aspect footage. They were also computer synchronized to sweeping lights and lasers to simulate space battles. The soundtrack was remixed for six-channel surround sound.

Where it came from
The Impression of First GUNDAM was released in 1998 as a special commemorative publication marking the enduring legacy of the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam series. It was curated to provide a retrospective look at the production, conceptual art, and cultural impact of Yoshiyuki Tomino’s foundational work, serving as a high-quality archival document for long-time fans during a period of renewed interest in the franchise.
The design emphasizes a polished, analytical approach, featuring behind-the-scenes sketches and interviews that illuminate the creative process of the Sunrise production team. It was received as a definitive sourcebook for enthusiasts, valued for its commitment to technical detail and its celebration of the show's departure from traditional super-robot tropes toward a more grounded, realistic science fiction narrative.
