Where it came from
The Invincible, an original net animation produced by Bilibili, emerged from the platform's concerted effort to expand its repertoire of high-fidelity Chinese animation. Released in the early 2020s, the project was part of a broader industry trend toward adapting complex science fiction narratives for digital-first audiences. It reflects the studio's focus on integrating sophisticated digital rendering with stylized character design to compete in an increasingly crowded global streaming landscape.
The production process emphasized visual spectacle and thematic depth, aiming to capture the technical potential of modern ONA formats. By leveraging Bilibili's internal creative resources, the design team sought to balance traditional animation techniques with experimental CGI, focusing on world-building that resonated with established domestic fanbases. Upon its release, the series was received as a notable entry in the studio's portfolio, contributing to the platform's reputation for championing diverse animation genres.
