The Mirror: Twin Cities - Overture

The Mirror: Twin Cities - Overture was produced by Studio Foch as an original net animation, serving as an atmospheric introduction to the broader Mirror: Twin Cities multimedia project. Released during a period of experimentation within the independent animation scene, the Overture was crafted to establish the visual language and thematic dissonance of the setting. Its production favored a minimalist, stylized aesthetic intended to emphasize the dualities present in the narrative, moving away from conventional serialized storytelling in favor of an immersive, mood-driven experience.

The design and visual direction were steered by the core creative team at Foch, who sought to blend traditional cel-inspired techniques with modern digital compositing to evoke a sense of uncanny urban decay. Upon its release, the project garnered attention for its unconventional pacing and high-contrast color palette, which critics identified as a deliberate departure from contemporary mainstream trends. While the Overture remains an elusive entry in the studio's portfolio, it is regarded by enthusiasts as a foundational piece that defines the technical ambitions of the Foch collective during their early formation.
