Where it came from
Announced in late 2023 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Eiichiro Oda’s original manga, THE ONE PIECE is a modern reimagining of the series produced by Wit Studio. Developed for the Netflix platform, the project aims to adapt the early East Blue saga using contemporary animation techniques, providing a streamlined and visually refined entry point for new audiences while honoring the foundational spirit of the source material.
The production represents a high-profile collaboration between Shueisha, Fuji Television, and Wit Studio, marking a notable departure from the long-running television series. By focusing on a seasonal, high-fidelity approach to the narrative, the design philosophy emphasizes consistent character models and fluid action sequences that align with the high standards of current prestige animation. The project has been met with significant anticipation within the global anime community as an effort to modernize the franchise's opening chapters.
